Customer Challenge:
Stabilising temperature and humidity
Our client is a global leader in providing healthcare solutions in orthopaedics, spinal care, sports medicine and neurosciences. Manufacturing orthopaedics at their facility in Ireland, they require a controlled environment within the drying room.
Due to a high volume of traffic in and out of the drying room, they found it difficult to maintain the humidity and temperature within the required range in addition to keeping the room free from outside contaminants. To combat this they positively pressurised the room as well as using the AC system to regulate humidity and temperature. These solutions, though providing some control, were insufficient for their needs.
Enershield solution:
After discussing the issues with our client, we installed Enershield Microshield and Durashield Air Barriers over the drying room doorways to provide environmental separation, stabilising air conditions. Two High Volume, Low Speed (HVLS) Fans were also installed to mix and evenly distribute the air within the room.
Result:
As represented by the graphs, the Enershield application provided outstanding results. The drying room now maintains humidity and temperature together with providing a cleaner working environment. The drying process is consistent in all areas that are protected by Enershield. The HVLS fans help to maintain a uniform temperature and humidity throughout the whole room. These improvements have helped increase product yield and have removed the need to positively pressurise the room.
Additional Information:
Prior to this Enershield installation, a combination of Microshield Enershield Air Barriers was fitted to access doors. These units also provided tremendous improvements in stabilising air conditions in drying rooms. The units have been running 24/7 and generating benefits for over one year.
